List 26: Books By Peter Palmquist [download pdf]
Peter Palmquist was a well-known historian of photography, with a particular interest in the work of small-town photographers and pioneering women photographers. He self-published more than two dozen books on photography in the West and compiled extensive primary sources about early American photographers. Eureka Books is proud to have acquired the remaining inventory of the books he wrote and published, often in editions as small as 300 copies. Shortly before his death in a hit-and-run accident in January 2003, he sold his remarkable and extensive archive of early photographs to the Beinecke Library at Yale. A good biography of Peter can be found here.
